Regular Season Round 9: Bejjeh - Hoops 89-87

A very interesting game took place in Bejjeh. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 10th ranked Hoops Club (1-8) to ninth ranked Bejjeh (2-7) 89-87 on Sunday evening. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-14. But Hoops Club won third quarter 29-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bejjeh players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Hoops Club's players. The best player for the winners was American center Joel Box (206-84, college: Quincy) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Jonathon Avery (201-88, college: IUPUI, agency: Gamble Sports Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Ashton Gibbs (188-90, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Interperformances) who recorded 28 points and 5 assists and guard Amir Eid (185-89) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Four Bejjeh and five Hoops Club players scored in double figures. Bejjeh moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Homenetm. B. Hoops Club lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Bejjeh's next round opponent will be higher ranked Al Moutahed (#5) in Tripoli and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hoops Club will play on the road against Byblos (#4) and hope to win that game.
