Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Gunma (9-27) was edged at home by eighth ranked Sendai 89ers (17-19) 86-84 on Sunday. Gunma was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 24-20 charge of Sendai 89ers, which allowed them to win the game. American forward DeAngelo Casto (203-90, college: Washington St.) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Wendell Wendell (198-84, college: UNLV) chipped in 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Sendai 89ers' coach Shuto Kawachi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American center Dillion Sneed (203-84, college: E.Tenn.St.) with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and point guard Kenya Tomori (177-84) scored 18 points. Sendai 89ers moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Yokohama BC and Aomori Watts. Loser Gunma keeps the tenth position with 27 games lost. Sendai 89ers will face higher ranked Shinshu BW (#4) in Nagano in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
