Rather predictable result in Mar del Plata where ninth ranked Atenas (11-12) defeated 11th ranked Quilmes MP (10-14) 89-84 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 11 points after three quarters before their 31-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Quilmes MP was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Walter Herrmann (203-79) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Juan Brussino (185-91) who added 21 points and 4 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was American Walter Baxley (193-84, college: Mars Hill) with 22 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized Italian swingman Anibal Marin (199-82) scored 14 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Quilmes MP's coach Leandro Ramella rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Atenas moved-up to eighth place. Newly promoted Quilmes MP keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Atenas will face Obras (#12) in Buenos Aires in the next round. Quilmes MP will play on the road against Lanus in Buenos Aires and hope to win that game.
