Leading Rio Grande Valley Vipers (25-11) recorded its eleventh loss in Tulsa. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked 66ers (18-20) 128-120. Rio Grande Valley Vipers were ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 72-62 second half run of 66ers. 66ers shot 35 for 51 from the free-throw line, while Rio Grande Valley Vipers only scored eighteen points from the stripe. 66ers forced 19 Rio Grande Valley Vipers turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Rio Grande Valley Vipers were plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for Mario Little (198-87, college: Kansas) who led the winners and scored 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Forward Robert Covington (206-90, college: Tennessee St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and forward Tony Bishop (201-89, college: Texas St.) added 20 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. 66ers have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 18-20 record. Rio Grande Valley Vipers at the other side still keep top position with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
