Regular Season Round 19: Villeneuve - Charleville 80-68

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (16-3) beat at home 6th ranked Charleville-Mezieres (8-11) 80-68. The game was mostly controlled by Villeneuve D'Ascq. Charleville-Mezieres was better in second period 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Villeneuve D'Ascq especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. It was a great evening for the former international Johanne Gomis (179-85) who led her team to a victory scoring 17 points and 5 assists. Mali center Djene Diawara (192-85) helped adding 14 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Ambrosia Anderson (186-84, college: BYU, agency: Two Points) responded with 21 points and the other American import power forward Jacinta Monroe (193-88, college: Florida St.) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Villeneuve D'Ascq maintains third place with 16-3 record having just two points less than leader Bourges. Charleville-Mezieres at the other side keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Nantes. Villeneuve D'Ascq will play against Lyon (#5) on the road in the next round. Charleville-Mezieres will play against Arras and hopes to get back on the winning track.
