Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Alghero and 3rd placed Valmadrera had identical 2-2 record. This time Alghero used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Valmadrera 69-66 on Sunday night. Valmadrera was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 19-15 charge of Alghero, which allowed them to win the game. Center Costanza Giorgi (185-89) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. point guard Sara Azzellini (170-86) contributed with 15 points, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Four Alghero players scored in double figures. Swingman Sara Canova (174-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and swingman Morena Capiaghi (177-86) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Valmadrera. Alghero (3-2) moved-up to third place in Relegation Group A. Loser Valmadrera dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Alghero will face league's leader Cagliari A. at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Valmadrera will play against Biassono and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
