Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Hoops Club (1-9) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Byblos (7-3) 93-75 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Byblos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Byblos outrebounded Hoops Club 43-27 including a 29-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Canadian center Michael Fraser (203-84, college: Oklah.Baptist, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international power forward Ali Kanaan (207-85, college: Mass.-Lowell) chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Byblos players scored in double figures. Byblos' coach Nenad Vucinic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Palestinian center Sani Sakakini (204-88) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and American point guard Ashton Gibbs (188-90, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Interperformances) scored 29 points. Byblos moved-up to third place, which they share with Sagesse and Moutahed. Hoops Club lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Byblos will face Al Moutahed (#5) in Tripoli in the next round. Hoops Club's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut Sagesse.
