Regular Season Round 10: Guaiqueries - Trotamundos 88-85

A very close game took place in Porlamar between Guaiqueries and Trotamundos. Sixth ranked Guaiqueries (7-6) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked Trotamundos (7-6). Guaiqueries managed to escape with a 3-point win 88-85 in the fight for the fifth place. Trotamundos trailed by 17 points at halftime and as many as 20 after three quarters before a 32-15 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 85-88 at the end of the game. The former international Tulio Cobos (197-86, college: Northeastern St.) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Jamaican-American guard Akeem Scott (185-83, college: High Point, agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Scott is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side Dominican forward Jack Michael Martinez (201-81) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and the former international Dwight Lewis (197-87, college: USC) scored 15 points. Four Trotamundos players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Guaiqueries have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Trotamundos. Guaiqueries will meet Gaiteros (#8) in the next round. Trotamundos will have a break next round.
