An interesting game for Grindavik (15-5) which hosted in Grindavik second-ranked Keflavik (16-4). Third ranked Grindavik managed to get a 11-point victory 94-83. The game was mostly controlled by Grindavik. Keflavik managed to win second period 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Grindavik dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Keflavik's 48. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international forward Omar Saevarsson (198-82) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Olafur Olafsson (194-90) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Grindavik's coach Sverrir Sverrisson used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Michael Craion (195-89, college: ORU) replied with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 18 rebounds and the former international guard Darrel Lewis (192-76, college: Lincoln, MO, agency: Two Points) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Keflavik. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Grindavik have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 15-5 record having four points less than leader KR. Keflavik lost third consecutive game. They keep the second place with four games lost. Grindavik are looking forward to face Thor Thorl (#6) in Thorlakshofn in the next round. Keflavik will play at home against IR (#9) and is hoping to win this game.
