Regular Season Round 33: Denain - Souffel 63-75

There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Denain Voltaire (16-17) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Souffelweyersheim (15-18) 75-63 on Friday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-63. American swingman Daviin Davis (193-85, college: Weber St.) stepped up and scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and naturalized Chadian forward Jacques Alingue (203-88) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Brandon Brown (201-85, college: CS San Bernar.) with 17 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import guard Martin Zeno (196-85, college: Texas Tech) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Souffelweyersheim maintains twelfth place with 15-18 record. Loser Denain Voltaire dropped to the eleventh position with 17 games lost. Souffelweyersheim will face higher ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (#3) in Boulogne-sur-Mer in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
