SPO Rouen (12-21) outlasted Boulazac Basket (14-19) in overtime by four points 108-104. The hosts were ahead by 3 points but lost the second period ending it with a 5-point deficit before their 24-19 run, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 19-15. SPO Rouen made 31-of-40 charity shots (77.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Boulazac Basket outrebounded SPO Rouen 43-28 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by Boulazac Basket helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American Marvin Phillips (201-83, college: Claflin) who led his team to a victory with 29 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import Kyle Spain (196-87, college: San Diego St.) contributed with 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Swiss power forward David Ramseier (202-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and American forward Tyler Smith (201-86, college: Tennessee) added 21 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Boulazac Basket. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SPO Rouen maintains fifteenth place with 12-21 record. Boulazac Basket at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 19 games lost. SPO Rouen's next round opponent will be higher ranked Nantes (#14) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
