Second Stage Round 4: Black Star - Heffingen 77-80

Date: March 8, 2014
A very interesting game took place in Mersch. It ended with only three-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Black Star (14-8) to fourth ranked Heffingen (3-19) 80-77 on Saturday evening. Black Star cut a 15-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. Heffingen forced 33 Black Star turnovers. The winners were led by American forward Dominique Morrison (198-89, college: ORU) who scored that evening 26 points and 7 rebounds and guard Ted Schleimer (194-92) supported him with 16 points. Heffingen's coach Mark Reed allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 28 points and 15 rebounds by American Jarvis Williams (198-89, college: Minn.St.-Mankato, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) did not help to save the game for Black Star. His fellow American import forward Mike Oppland (201-84, college: Valparaiso) added 16 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Five Black Star players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Heffingen maintains fourth position in League with 3-19 record. Black Star at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the third place with eight games lost. Heffingen's next round opponent will be league's leader Etzella in Ettelbruck and it may be the game of the week. Black Star will play on the road against the league's leader Basket Esch and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
