TBL top team - Stelmet ZG (17-3) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Polpharma (4-16) in Starogard 100-75. The game was mostly controlled by Stelmet ZG. Polpharma managed to win second period 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Stelmet ZG forced 21 Polpharma turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Stelmet ZG made 7 blocks. Montenegrin power forward Vladimir Dragicevic (206-86) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and the former international point guard Lukasz Koszarek (187-84) accounted for 15 points and 10 assists. Four Stelmet ZG players scored in double figures. American swingman Michael Hicks (195-83, college: Central Mo., agency: Court Side) came up with 17 points and 4 steals (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and the other American import Kevin Johnson (201-84, college: Humboldt St., agency: Hart Sports Mngm) added 8 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Polpharma in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-3 record. Loser Polpharma dropped to the tenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Stabill Jezioro and Kotwica. Stelmet ZG will meet at home league's second-placed PGE Turow in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Polpharma will play against Stabill Jezioro (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
