Regular Season Round 21: Caceres - Cambados 73-60

Rather expected game when 9th ranked Cambados (8-11) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Caceres Basket (12-8) 73-60 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Caceres Basket. Cambados was better in second period 27-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Cambados 42-28 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Power forward Miguel Montanana (206-80) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and point guard Jose Antonio Marco (179-89) chipped in 7 points and 11 assists. Four Caceres Basket players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Alberto Rodriguez (206-75) with 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and naturalized Senegalese power forward Mamadou Diop (201-93) scored 8 points and 5 rebounds. Cambados' coach Yago Casal let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Caceres Basket moved-up to fourth place. Newly promoted Cambados dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. Caceres Basket will face Araberri (#9) in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Cambados will play at home against Askatuak and hope to win that game.
