Second Stage Round 4: Residence - Racing 83-82

A very close game took place in Bereldange between Residence and Racing. Second ranked Residence (8-14) got a very close home victory over much higher ranked Racing (15-7). Residence managed to escape with a 1-point win 83-82 in the fight for the second place. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 23-16 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Racing outrebounded Residence 40-26 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Residence especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Brandon Gay (203-82, college: San Diego) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Chris Kaba (203-88, college: N.Colorado) who added 20 points during the contest. At the losing side American swingman Scott Morton (197-87, college: Geneseo St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Canadian forward Billy McNutt (203-85) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds. Residence maintains second position in League with 8-14 record having five points less than leader Etzella which they share with defeated Racing. Newly promoted Racing keeps the second place with seven games lost. Residence will meet at home Soleuvre (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Racing will play against Grengewald and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
