Regular Season Round 30: Macae - Limeira 62-76

Date: March 8, 2014
Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Macae (10-17) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Winner/Limeira (16-9) 76-62. It looked good early as Macae took an 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Winner/Limeira took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 14 points. They made 16-of-17 charity shots (94.1 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American guard David Jackson (196-82, college: Penn St.) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Dominican-American guard Ronald Ramon (182-86, college: Pittsburgh) contributed with 22 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners. Four Winner/Limeira players scored in double figures. Center Atilio de Mello (203-82) replied with 13 points and 5 rebounds and Argentinian Pablo Espinoza (200-87) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Macae. Macae's coach Leonardo Costa let to play ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Winner/Limeira maintains fifth position with 16-9 record. Macae at the other side keeps the thirteenth place with 17 games lost. Winner/Limeira's next round opponent will be league's leader Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro and it may be quite challenging game. Macae will play at home against Universo/Goiania (#16) and hope to win that game.
