Regular Season Round 43: Sendai 89ers - Shinshu BW 86-89

Seventh-ranked Sendai 89ers (17-20) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Shinshu BW (25-11) on Saturday. The visitors from Nagano managed to secure only three-point victory 89-86. However their fans expected easier game. Sendai 89ers were trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 8-point lead after three quarters before a 26-15 charge of Shinshu BW, which allowed them to win the game. They made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. Power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St.) fired 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Patrick Sanders (198-85, college: Cal-Irvine) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Wendell Wendell (198-84, college: UNLV) produced 17 points and 6 rebounds and forward DeAngelo Casto (203-90, college: Washington St.) added 11 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Shinshu BW and five Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Shinshu BW maintains fourth place with 25-11 record. Sendai 89ers at the other side keep the seventh position with 20 games lost. They share it with Yokohama BC. Shinshu BW will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sendai 89ers will play again at home against Shinshu BW (#4) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
