We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th ranked Osaka Evessa (16-23) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Oita Heat Devils (16-23) 68-61 on Saturday. Osaka Evessa was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 22-14 charge of Oita Heat Devils, which allowed them to win the game. They made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Oita Heat Devils forced 19 Osaka Evessa turnovers and outrebounded them 42-28 including a 13-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Verdell Jones III (195-89, college: Indiana) fired 19 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. His fellow American import swingman Gabriel McCulley (200-89, college: UTEP) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Oita Heat Devils players scored in double figures. Soma Takuya produced 14 points and American point guard Kevin Galloway (200-88, college: Texas Southern) added 3 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks respectively for lost side.
