Very expected game when 9th ranked Forssan Alku (3-19) was crushed at home by fourth ranked HoNsU (12-10) 74-52. The game was mostly controlled by HoNsU. Forssan Alku was better in third quarter 11-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Forssan Alku 47-36 including 38 on the defensive glass. American guard Nikki Speed (173-90, college: Rutgers) nailed a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists for the winning side and the former international forward Minna Sten (190-87) accounted for 12 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks. Five HoNsU players scored in double figures. American forward Hope Elam (185-89, college: Indiana, agency: Gamble Sports Management) came up with 17 points and 8 rebounds and international power forward Anniina Aijanen (189-95) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Forssan Alku in the defeat. HoNsU maintains fourth place with 12-10 record. Forssan Alku at the other side stay dead last with 19 lost games. HoNsU will play against Tapiolan Honka (#7) at home in the next round. Forssan Alku will play against Aanekosken in Aanekoski and hopes to get back on the winning track.
