Rather predictable result in Kotka where second ranked Peli-Karhut (19-3) defeated 5th ranked Aanekosken (10-12) 93-81. The game was mostly controlled by Peli-Karhut. Aanekosken was better in second period 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Peli-Karhut dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Aanekosken's 54. Peli-Karhut forced 21 Aanekosken turnovers. The former international center Taru Tuukkanen (192-77, college: Xavier, agency: Regeneracom Sports) nailed 26 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Andrea Barbour (178-89, college: VCU, agency: LBM Management) accounted for 24 points and 10 rebounds. American center Kenya Robinson (182-70, college: New Orleans) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds and the other American import guard Brandi Davis (183-83, college: Oregon) added 27 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Aanekosken in the defeat. Five Peli-Karhut and four Aanekosken players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Peli-Karhut. They maintain second place with 19-3 record having five points less than leader Catz. Aanekosken at the other side keeps the fifth position with 12 games lost. Peli-Karhut will play against TuRi (#8) in Turku in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Aanekosken will play at home against Forssan Alku and hopes to get back on the winning track.
