BJ League top team - Akita Happinets (32-8) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked Niigata Albirex (23-16) 101-94. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-17. But Niigata Albirex won second period 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Akita Happinets made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. American players dominated the game. The best player for the winners was swingman Richard Roby (198-85) who scored 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Ruben Boykin (201-85, college: N.Arizona) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) produced 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) added 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) respectively for the guests. Akita Happinets have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 32-8 record. Niigata Albirex at the other side keeps the fifth place with 16 games lost. Akita Happinets' next round opponent will be Gunma (#9) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Niigata Albirex will play against Tokyo Cinq R. (#10) and hope to win that game.
