Regular Season Round 44: Sendai 89ers - Shinshu BW 86-73
Date: March 9, 2014
An interesting game was also surprising road defeat of 4th ranked Shinshu BW in a game versus Sendai 89ers (#7) 86-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Shinshu BW. The winners were led by American guard Wendell Wendell (198-84, college: UNLV) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and British power forward Dzaflo Larkai (203-81, college: Bellarmine) supported him with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Even a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds by American power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St.) did not help to save the game for Shinshu BW. His fellow American import forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic) added 12 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sendai 89ers maintains seventh position with 18-20 record. Loser Shinshu BW keeps the fourth place with 12 games lost. Sendai 89ers will meet Saitama Broncos (#11) on the road in the next round. Shinshu BW will play against Iwate Big Bulls (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
