The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Aishin Wings' (7-22) road loss to eighth ranked Niigata (11-18) 69-78 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 48-35 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Hiromi Iwamura (168-81) who scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. Four Niigata players scored in double figures. Niigata will face higher ranked Fujitsu RW (#5) in Kawasaki in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Aishin Wings will play at home against the league's second-placed Toyota A. (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
