Thirteenth-ranked Hod Hasharon (5-17) made lots of trouble for second ranked Hapoel Kazrin (16-6) on Tuesday. The visitors from Kazrin managed to secure only one-point victory 90-89. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 16 points after three quarters before their 27-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Hapoel Kazrin dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Hod Hasharon's 24. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American forward Erik Etherly (201, college: Loyola, MD) fired 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The other American import forward David Loubeau (203-89, college: Texas A&M) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Anthony Fisher (191-86) produced 25 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and naturalized Latvian Gary Gendel (203-80) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hapoel Kazrin maintains second position with 16-6 record having just two points less than leader Ironi Nahariya. Hod Hasharon at the other side keeps the thirteenth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Macc.B.Yaakov. Hapoel Kazrin are looking forward to face Kiryat Tivon (#9) in Kiryat Tivon in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hod Hasharon will play on the road against Ironi Ashkelon (#5) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
