The biggest surprise of round 31 was guest Unitri's (16-10) road victory over 6th ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (15-11) 85-83 on Thursday evening. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 38-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. American Robert Day (197-82, college: W.Oregon) fired 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The former international Lucas Cipolini (206-86, college: BYU-Hawaii) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. The former international Jefferson Andrade (207-83) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and American-Dominican point guard Emmanuel Quezada (188-85, college: USF) added 21 points and 10 assists respectively for lost side. Five Unitri and four Sao Jose/Vinac players scored in double figures. Sao Jose/Vinac's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Unitri have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place. Sao Jose/Vinac at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Unitri are looking forward to face Liga Sorocaba (#15) in Sorocabana in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sao Jose/Vinac will play at home against the league's leader Flamengo (#1) and is hoping to win this game.
