There was no surprise when 8th ranked SKY/Basquete (14-14) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Winner/Limeira (17-10) 99-85 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 99-85. Winner/Limeira forced 21 SKY/Basquete turnovers. Strangely SKY/Basquete outrebounded Winner/Limeira 34-17. Mateus Dalla Barba (198-91) fired 29 points (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winners. American guard David Jackson (196-82, college: Penn St.) chipped in 21 points. The former international forward Felipe Ribeiro (201-79) produced 19 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Brandon Brown (178-89, college: Montana-West) added 19 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SKY/Basquete's coach tested ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Winner/Limeira maintains fifth place with 17-10 record. Loser SKY/Basquete keeps the eighth position with 14 games lost. Winner/Limeira will face Mogi (#12) in Mogi das Cruzes in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SKY/Basquete will play on the road against Paschoalotto/Bauru (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
