Very expected game in Isafjordur where 11th ranked KFI (4-17) was crushed by seventh ranked Stjarnan (10-12) 107-70 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Stjarnan. KFI was better in third quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to KFI's 42 and made 27-of-33 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game, while KFI only scored ten points from the stripe. Stjarnan looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. KFI was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Junior Hairston (203-84, college: Towson, agency: KMG Sports Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and guard Dagur Jonsson (186-95) chipped in 25 points. Four Stjarnan players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard Joshua Brown (187-88, college: Towson) with 25 points and the former international forward Mirko Virijevic (201-81, college: Freed-Hardeman) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. KFI's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Stjarnan. They maintain seventh place with 10-12 record. KFI lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 17 games lost. Stjarnan will face higher ranked Njardvik (#4) in Njardvik in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. KFI will play on the road against Valur (#12) in Reykjavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
