Regular Season Round 32: S.Jose/Unimed - Vivo/Franca 86-77
Date: March 15, 2014
Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Vivo/Franca (14-15) lost on the road to seventh ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (16-11) 86-77 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Vivo/Franca won third quarter 27-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sao Jose/Vinac made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The winners were led by American-Dominican point guard Emmanuel Quezada (188-85, college: USF) who scored that evening 27 points and 8 assists and the former international center Caio Silveira (211-87, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Even 21 points and 8 rebounds by the former international center Paulo Prestes (210-88) did not help to save the game for Vivo/Franca. The former international Jhonatan Luz dos Santos (196-87) added 14 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Five Sao Jose/Vinac and four Vivo/Franca players scored in double figures. Sao Jose/Vinac maintains seventh position with 16-11 record. Loser Vivo/Franca dropped to the ninth place with 15 games lost. Sao Jose/Vinac will meet league's second-placed Brasilia on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Vivo/Franca will play against Winner/Limeira (#5) and hope to secure a win.
