Regular Season Round 26: Leiden - Den Helder 82-52

The most important game in the last round took place in Leiden between third ranked Den Helder (20-8) and sixth ranked Leiden (17-11) on Saturday night. Den Helder was crushed by Leiden on the road 82-52. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Den Helder. The game without a history. Leiden led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 60.9 percent from the field. Leiden outrebounded Den Helder 41-26 including a 32-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Leiden especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was international power forward Josh Duinker (210-89, college: Richmond) who scored 20 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). International Worthy de Jong (194-88, agency: R.H.Consultancy) chipped in 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Leiden players scored in double figures. Leiden's coach Toon Van Helfteren felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Justin Knox (205-89, college: N.Carolina) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and the former international power forward Jeroen van der List (213-89, college: Indian Hills CC, agency: Court Side) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with M.Magixx. Den Helder at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. Leiden is looking forward to face Leeuwarden (#7) on the road in the next round. Den Helder will play against Zwolle (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
