Regular Season Round 38: Tochigi Brex - Wakayama T. 78-81

The most exciting game of round 38 in the NBL took place in Tochigi. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 4th ranked Tochigi Brex (24-17) to second ranked Wakayama T. (28-12) 81-78 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-78. The former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) contributed with 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Wakayama T. players scored in double figures. American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) replied with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds and the former international guard Yuta Tabuse (173-80, college: BYU-Hawaii) added 12 points and 7 assists in the effort for Tochigi Brex. Newly promoted Wakayama T. maintains second position with 28-12 record having eight points less than leader Aishin SH. Tochigi Brex at the other side keeps the fourth place with 17 games lost. Wakayama T. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tochigi Brex will play again at home against the league's second-placed Wakayama T. (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
