Regular Season Round 21: Angers - Nantes 64-70

Date: March 15, 2014
Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Nantes Reze (10-11) beat on the road 9th ranked Angers (7-14) 70-64 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 17-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-64. Nantes Reze looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international power forward Marielle Amant (190-89) stepped up and scored 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Caroline Aubert (168-80, college: Colorado) chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Nantes Reze players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Canadian forward Lizanne Murphy (185-84, college: Hofstra) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and power forward Johanna Cortinovis (190-86) scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. Angers' coach David Girandiere rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Nantes Reze moved-up to sixth place. Newly promoted Angers dropped to the eighth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Tarbes and Union Hainaut. Nantes Reze will meet at home bottom-ranked Nice (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
