Regular Season Round 22: Cambados - Askatuak 63-70

There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Askatuak (5-16) beat on the road higher ranked Cambados (8-12) 70-63 on Saturday. Cambados was trailing by 8 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 25-15 charge of Askatuak, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Cambados to just 7 points in second quarter. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Askatuak made 7 blocks. Cambados was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Malick Fall (211-92) fired 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized American center Shalawn Miller (205-74, college: Mass.-Lowell) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Askatuak's coach David Blanca used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Alberto Rodriguez (206-75) produced 16 points and point guard Emilio Oubina (187-90) added 11 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Askatuak maintains thirteenth position with 5-16 record. Newly promoted Cambados dropped to the ninth place with 12 games lost. Askatuak will face higher ranked Araberri (#11) in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
