Regular Season Round 21: Panionios - Ikaros 89-54
Date: March 15, 2014
Not a big story in a game in Athens where 13th ranked Ikaros (6-15) was outplayed by third ranked Panionios (15-6) 89-54 on Saturday. The game without a history. Panionios led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Ikaros to just 7 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Ikaros 44-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American point guard Errick McCollum (185-88, college: Goshen) who scored 15 points. His fellow American import guard Marc Antonio Carter (191-85, college: NC-Wilmington) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Dominique Sutton (195-86, college: N.C.Central) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (200-90, college: Murray St.) added 12 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panionios maintains third place with 15-6 record having five points less than leader Panathinaikos. Loser Ikaros dropped to the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Panionios will face Kolossos (#11) in Rodou in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ikaros will play at home against the league's leader Panathinaikos and hope to win that game.
