Regular Season Round 32: Paulistano - Pinheiros/Sky 100-81
Date: March 15, 2014
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Sao Paolo: Paulistano (#3) and Pinheiros (#4). Paulistano (21-8) smashed visiting Pinheiros (18-9) by 19 points 100-81. The game was mostly controlled by Paulistano. Pinheiros was better in fourth quarter 29-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-25 charity shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Paulistano forced 22 Pinheiros turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Desmond Holloway (190-90, college: Co.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 5 rebounds and center Rafael Mineiro Rodrigues (213-87) who added 13 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) during the contest. Four Paulistano players scored in double figures. Naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) responded with 28 points and American point guard Joe Smith (192-77, college: Al.-Huntsville) scored 9 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Paulistano have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 21-8 record behind leader Flamengo. Pinheiros at the other side keeps the fourth place with nine games lost. Paulistano will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pinheiros will play at home against Minas (#14) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
