The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked Kyoto Hannar.'s (27-16) road victory over 3rd placed Hamamatsu Phoenix (24-15) 101-73 on Saturday. The game without a history. Kyoto Hannar. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Hamamatsu Phoenix's 28 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Kyoto Hannar. forced 19 Hamamatsu Phoenix turnovers and outrebounded them 43-23 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Kyoto Hannar. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American center Chris Holm (212-84, college: Vermont) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 19 rebounds for the winners and American-Puerto Rican swingman Edwin Ubiles (198-86, college: Siena) chipped in 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Kyoto Hannar. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Jermaine Dixon (191-87, college: Pittsburgh) with 27 points and 4 steals and the other American import guard Aki Chambers (190-90, college: Cal Merced) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Kyoto Hannar..
