There was a surprise result in Castellon where eleventh ranked Zornotza (9-12) defeated higher ranked Castello (11-9) 90-79 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Zornotza. Castello was better in second period 28-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Castello to just 7 points in first quarter. Zornotza shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 59.1 percentage. Forward Ibon Carreto (198-84) fired 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. point guard Antonio Lorenzo (185-82) chipped in 22 points. Nigerian-American power forward Olasumbo Atoyebi (203-87, college: Elon) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds and guard Jose Maria Garcia (193-87) added 21 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Four Castello players scored in double figures. Zornotza moved-up to eighth place. Castello at the other side dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. Zornotza will have a break next round.
