Regular Season Round 22: Oviedo - Burgos 74-91

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Oviedo CB's (14-9) home loss to fourth ranked Burgos (16-7) 74-91 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Burgos. Oviedo CB was better in second period 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Burgos dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Oviedo CB's 28. It was a very good performance for center Sergio Olmos (213-86, college: Temple) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds. Austrian Anton Maresch (191-91, agency: Two Points) contributed with 15 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Burgos players scored in double figures. Burgos' coach Andreu Casadevall used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dutch forward Kevin van Wijk (203-89, college: Valparaiso) replied with 17 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Francisco Cardenas (177-90) added 13 points and 7 assists in the effort for Oviedo CB. Burgos have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Breogan. Newly promoted Oviedo CB keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. Burgos will have a break next round. Oviedo CB will play again at home against Burgos (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
