Regular Season Round 24: Kangoeroes - Oostende 99-73

The most important game in the last round took place in Willebroek between second ranked Oostende (16-6) and ninth ranked Kangoeroes (5-19) on Saturday night. Oostende was crushed by Kangoeroes on the road 73-99. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 56-28 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Kangoeroes dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Oostende's 24 and made 30-of-36 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Oostende helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Spanish center Eduardo Hernandez-Sonseca (212-83) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). American guard Luke Loucks (195-90, college: Florida St.) contributed with 13 points and 8 assists for the winners. Five Kangoeroes players scored in double figures. American power forward Brent Wright (203-78, college: Florida) replied with 10 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian-Montenegrin guard Dusan Djordjevic (193-83, agency: Beo Basket) added 9 points in the effort for Oostende. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Kangoeroes maintains ninth position with 5-19 record. Defending champion Oostende dropped to the third place with six games lost. Kangoeroes are looking forward to face higher ranked Liege Basket (#4) in Liege in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Oostende will play at home against VOO Verviers-Pepinster and is hoping to win this game.
