Regular Season Round 21: Lyon - Tarbes 80-61

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Tarbes (7-14) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Lyon (14-7) 80-61 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-61. Lyon dominated on the defensive end, holding Tarbes to just 7 points in third quarter. They also forced 23 Tarbes turnovers. American center Mistie Mims (191-83, college: Duke) stepped up and scored 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and German forward Romy Baer (187-87) chipped in 11 points. Lyon's coach Marina Maljkovic used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Sabrina Reghaissia (188-83) with 11 points and 7 rebounds and Ukrainian-Bulgarian center Viktoria Mircheva (190-87) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four Tarbes players scored in double figures. Lyon maintains fifth place with 14-7 record. Loser Tarbes dropped to the eighth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Union Hainaut and Angers. Lyon will meet Union Hainaut (#8) in the next round. Tarbes will play against Basket Landes and hope to secure a win.
