There was no surprise when 9th ranked Quimper UJAP (12-13) was outleveled on the road by fifth ranked JA Vichy (18-9) 77-54 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by JA Vichy. Quimper UJAP was better in third quarter 19-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Quimper UJAP to just 5 points in fourth quarter. JA Vichy forced 28 Quimper UJAP turnovers. Point guard Rida El Amrani (180-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Liberian-American Pele Paelay (193-84, college: Co.Carolina, agency: Two Points) contributed with 21 points and 4 assists for the winners. Paelay is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four JA Vichy players scored in double figures. Naturalized Mali forward Tahirou Sani (203-85) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and forward Mathieu Tensorer (198-83) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Quimper UJAP. JA Vichy have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Quimper UJAP lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. JA Vichy will face La Rochelle (#5) on the road in the next round. Quimper UJAP will play against JSA Bordeaux (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
