Regular Season Round 22: Haukar - KR 74-86

Leader KR delivered the twentieth first victory. This time they beat 5th ranked Haukar (12-11) 86-74 in Hafnarfjordur. The game was mostly controlled by KR. Haukar was better in fourth quarter 27-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. KR shot 23 for 34 from the free-throw line, while Haukar only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Haukar 48-35 including 35 on the defensive glass. KR brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Haukar was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of international Martin Hermannsson (192-94) who helped to win the game recording 29 points. The former international guard Pavel Ermolinskij (202-87) contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American forward Terrence Watson (200-87, college: Ball St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and guard Emil Barja (192-91) added 9 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals in the effort for Haukar. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KR (21-1) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Haukar lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth place with 11 games lost.
