Regular Season Round 32: Ebara Vickies - JX Sunflowers 62-73

WJBL top team - JX Sunflowers (29-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat eleventh ranked Ebara Vickies (4-27) in Tokyo 73-62. The game was mostly controlled by JX Sunflowers. Ebara Vickies was better in third quarter 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. JX Sunflowers dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Ebara Vickies' 40 and made 26-of-30 charity shots (86.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Ebara Vickies 112-91 including a 46-35 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for JX Sunflowers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. They brought some defensive toughness making 204 blocks. 42 personal fouls committed by Ebara Vickies helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international forward Yuka Mamiya (185-90) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds. International forward Mikoto Onuma (174-93) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Inamoto Satoko (165-84) replied with 20 points and 5 assists and forward Yuki Morimoto (177-84) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Ebara Vickies. JX Sunflowers have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 29-2 record. Ebara Vickies at the other side keep the eleventh place with 27 games lost. JX Sunflowers' next round opponent will be Fujitsu RW (#5) in Kawasaki. Ebara Vickies will play on the road against Denso Iris (#3) in Kariya and hope to win that game.
