There was no surprise when 11th ranked Saitama Broncos (3-37) were crushed at home by seventh ranked Sendai 89ers (20-20) 105-85 on Sunday. Sendai 89ers outrebounded Saitama Broncos 48-31 including a 42-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Sendai 89ers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Wendell Wendell (198-84, college: UNLV) fired 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward DeAngelo Casto (203-90, college: Washington St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Five Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Sendai 89ers' coach Shuto Kawachi used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
