Very expected game when 10th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (10-30) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Niigata Albirex (25-16) 86-71 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Niigata Albirex. Tokyo Cinq R. was better in fourth quarter 28-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) chipped in 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Niigata Albirex's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) produced 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) and power forward Edward Morris (205-84, college: Pittsburg St.) added 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Niigata Albirex maintains fifth position with 25-16 record. Tokyo Cinq R. lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 30 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face league's second-placed Toyama Grouses at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tokyo Cinq R. will play against Shinshu BW (#4) and hope to win that game.
