Second Stage Round 6: Catania - Vigarano 83-54

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Vigarano (2-4) was outleveled on the road by third ranked Catania (4-1) 83-54 on Sunday. The game without a history. Catania led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Vigarano's 28. They outrebounded Vigarano 33-22 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Catania especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. It was a good game for Czech center Renata Brezinova (190-90) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Guard Maria Buzzanca (171-76) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Four Catania players scored in double figures. Forward Jomanda Rosier (182-89) replied with 15 points and 6 rebounds and international forward Irene Cigliani (177-92) added 18 points in the effort for Vigarano. Vigarano's coach Raffaele Ravagni gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Catania have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Catania maintains third position in Promotion Group B with 4-1 record having just one point less than leader Brindisi. Vigarano at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixth place with four games lost. Catania will face Broni (#4) at home in the next round. Vigarano will play against the league's leader Min.Battipaglia and hope to win that game.
