Rather expected game when 9th ranked Umana Venezia (10-13) lost to sixth ranked Banco di Srd (15-8) in Sassari 95-100 on Sunday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Naturalized American guard Drake Diener (196-81, college: De Paul, agency: Priority Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 44 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. American forward Caleb Green (203-85, college: ORU) contributed with 19 points for the winners. American swingman Donnell Taylor (198-82, college: UAB) answered with 28 points and 9 rebounds and Croatian forward Hrvoje Peric (203-85) added 20 points in the effort for Umana Venezia. Four Umana Venezia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Banco di Srd. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Montepaschi. Loser Umana Venezia keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. Banco di Srd will face Trenkwalder RE (#7) in Reggio Emilia in the next round. Umana Venezia will play at home against Vanoli Cremona and hope to win that game.
