Regular Season Round 26: Den Bosch - Rotterdam 89-67
Date: March 16, 2014
There was no surprise when 8th ranked Rotterdam (6-23) was crushed on the road by second ranked Den Bosch (23-7) 89-67. It looked good early as Rotterdam took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Den Bosch had a 16-12 second period charge getting the lead and Rotterdam was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-89. Den Bosch made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Rotterdam helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international forward Stefan Wessels (203-84, agency: R.H.Consultancy) notched 14 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and American point guard Tony Johnson (183-91, college: Lafayette) supported him with 13 points. Four Den Bosch players scored in double figures. Even 18 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals by American guard La'Shard Anderson (185-89, college: Boise St.) did not help to save the game for Rotterdam. His fellow American import power forward Cameron Echols (203-81, college: Ball St., agency: R.H.Consultancy) added 11 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Den Bosch maintains second position with 23-7 record having just three points less than leader Groningen. Rotterdam lost fifteenth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 23 games lost. Den Bosch's next round opponent will be M.Magixx (#5) in Nijmegen.
