Regular Season Round 25: Recanati - Matera 87-75

The game between third ranked Matera (15-10) and fourteenth ranked Recanati (10-15) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Matera was defeated by Recanati in Recanati 87-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Matera. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 45-32 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Naturalized American power forward Ryan Pettinella (206-84, college: Virginia) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and American swingman Sean Mosley (192-89, college: Maryland) chipped in 26 points. At the losing side American guard Anthony Jones (191-84, college: Indiana Tech) responded with 21 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Kyle Austin (203-88, college: Cal-Riverside) scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Recanati moved-up to thirteenth place. Matera at the other side keeps the third position with ten games lost. They share it with Ferrara. Recanati are looking forward to face higher ranked Lucca (#9) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Matera will play against Bari (#16) and is hoping to win this game.
