The game in Tokyo supposed to be also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Fujitsu RW (22-9) played at the court of 8th ranked Niigata (11-20). Fujitsu RW smashed Niigata 65-44 on Sunday. The game without a history. Fujitsu RW led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Niigata to just 7 points in second and third quarters. Fujitsu RW shot 62.9 percent from the field and made 20-of-20 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Fujitsu RW outrebounded Niigata 108-68 including a 59-43 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 27 long-distance shots on high 67.5 percentage. Fujitsu RW looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Niigata's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fujitsu RW made 206 blocks. Niigata was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Moeko Nagaoka (180-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and international swingman Chinatsu Yamamoto (175-91) who added 4 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Fujitsu RW's coach Yabuuchi Natsumi felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) responded with 17 points and forward Inoue Ai (172-90) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Fujitsu RW moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Chanson V-M. Loser Niigata keeps the eighth position with 20 games lost. Fujitsu RW will face league's leader JX Sunflowers in Kashiwa in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Niigata will play at home against Hitachi Cougars (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
