Regular Season Round 46: Toyama Grouses - Osaka Evessa 80-75

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Toyama Grouses (31-10) won against at home 6th ranked Osaka Evessa (18-24) 80-75 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Osaka Evessa won third quarter 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Joho Masashi (183-82) fired 27 points for the winners. American swingman Josh Gross (201-83, college: NC-Greensboro, agency: Norton Sports Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Gross is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. American swingman D'Andre Bell (198-87, college: Georgia Tech) produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Kevin Galloway (200-88, college: Texas Southern) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Toyama Grouses maintains second position with 31-10 record having just three points less than leader Okinawa GK. Loser Osaka Evessa keeps the sixth place with 24 games lost. Toyama Grouses will face Niigata Albirex (#5) on the road in the next round. Osaka Evessa will play against Hamamatsu Phoenix and hope to win that game.
